The Hornby Festival has been one of summer's highlights since 1982. An evening under the stars at Olsen's Farm while listening to world-class performances can't be beat. Festival 2007 saw the showmanship and astounding physical feats of Ache Brasil, the enchanting pop/folk melodies of Mae Moore and Lester Quitzau, the virtuosity of the Kirby String Quartet and many other fantastic performances. The Festival also showcases the natural beauty and diversity of Hornby Island through "Art in Unusual Places" where visiting artist put on short performances at unexpected locations around the island such as Sandpiper Bluff, Whaling Station Beach and the Recycling Depot. Another community and visitor favourite is the Lantern Walk which kicks off the festivities. Held at Big Tribune Beach, the Lantern Walk is a night of magic, music and dance. Festival 2008 will take place July 31 to August 9 with an exciting and show-stopping line up to be a nnounced early in the New Year.
