Louise Rose

Sunday, May 23rd
Hornby Hall

Door at 7pm, Performance at 8pm

A talented pianist, vocalist and actress, Louise was formally trained in piano, organ, voice, conducting and arranging. Some of her studies were with Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington and Leonard Bernstein. She performs jazz, blues, gospel, standards and draws on an extensive repertoire of original music. She'll weave her harmonious web of sounds with her voice and lush piano stylings. The result is velvet and silk. The response is Ahhh! Along with performing, Louise conducts the 200 voices of the Victoria Good News Choir and coaches numerous groups including the Downbeat Magazine award-winning vocal jazz ensemble 'Genesis', Her philosophy about singing and about much of the rest of life has been passed down to her from her Grandmother, "You are worthy simply because you're breathing." Therefore there are no auditions.

Painting into Spirit Workshop

March 26th to 29th
Victoria

This amazing 4 day workshop is only offered every two years and combines the powerful processes of Free Expression Painting and Mindfulness or Vipassana meditation.

Free Expression Painting (facilitated by Caroline James) is an incredible practice for discovering ones own unique creative voice through the use of very simple tools and mediums. Central to the process is the understanding of how we can let go of judgments that block authentic expression and therefore prevents us from being present in the creative moment. Vipassana meditation (facilitated by Beth Trotter) trains us to bring our attention back to the present moment, back to the creativity at hand.

No experience is necessary in either discipline.

Cost: $395.00 plus a small materials fee. All materials and mediums are included except for a few inexpensive brushes.

For more information please visit www.carolinejames.com
or email Carolin James: caroline@carolinejames.com

Silent Meditation Retreat

Deerheart Sanctuary
March 19th to 22nd

These retreats are rare opportunities to turn inward in an environment where the space is being held for deep inquiry into the absolute truth of your being. No one can really describe what experience awaits you as you turn inward and open to silence. It must be experienced, a conceptual understanding is not it. There is only one authority and that comes from within.

You will be guided to maintain absolute fidelity with your deepest experience. Simply allow what you are experiencing to be the ultimate truth in that moment without identifying with any story about those experiences.

Visit www.deerheartsanctuary.com for complete retreat information.
