Arbutus Arts
It was Hornby Island's quiet atmosphere that drew Nicki Johansen and her family here in 1979. The winding roads, small holdings, lush countryside and absence of traffic lights reminds her of rural England, where she lived until 1963, before settling in Coquitlam, BC. Having a lifelong interest in art and a previous art supply business in the Lower Mainland, Nicki found the opportunity to open Arbutus Arts a natural progression.
Arbutus Arts is a little shop and gallery perched above the Ford's Cove Marina store. It always has a wonderful selection of local arts & crafts for the art consumer, plus framing and art supplies for the creators. Over the summer, you will find exhibitions of local talent in the Gallery with an opportunity to celebrate the new show openings with artists in attendance. Come between 7 and 9 pm on the first Friday of each new show to celebrate the opening by sharing refreshments with others in this incredible setting.
Opening receptions, with artists in attendance, are held on the first Friday of the show from 7-9 pm.
