Mermaid's Delight
Vera Rønningen MSc.

As long time Hornbyite Vera Rønningen was completing her Masters Science degree she became concerned about the steady decline of the Bull Kelp beds in our area. Deciding to specialize in seaweeds, and combining this with her knowledge of herbs, Vera has created a line of skincare products called Mermaid's Delight. Products are made from natural macroalgae from the clean pristine waters off Hornby Island.

Recently Vera has rekindled her love of knitting and has also created a unique line of natural organic knitted woolens in styles that she sculpts without formal patterns. All garments are hand knit from hand spun organic wool from sheep raised on Gordon's Bio Farm on Hornby Island. These lovely woolen garments are produced with appreciation of the beauty and tactile coziness of this wonderful wool.

Vera offers seaweed workshops during the spring and fall at her home on Hornby Island and regionally. All Mermaid's Delight Products are available at the Hornby Island Farmer's Market from May to October and via mail order.
